This is definitely music which ignites and energizes the imagination and human-spirit. Listening to a new Animal Collective album for the first time (677th time, for that matter) is almost a religious experience for me. I sing along, dance, scream, jump, drum, and jam right along side them. Their vibrations really send me flying. Usually, I just try and hang on for the ride. It's a journey, man - so I'm telling ya, this album with be released on the 20th of January, do yourself a favor and buy a copy. Let go and allow the tones to work through you. You'll thank me.

Merriweather Post Pavilion. . .
So on December 25th, the newest Animal Collective album, entitled Merriweather Post Pavilion (which was named after an outdoor concert venue located in Columbia, Maryland), leaked onto the intertubez! Needless to say, it is a gem. Another beautifully constructed sonic marvel for us AC enthusiasts to stand in awe of while simultaneously participate in; this is beyond music. What's funny is that I've actually been listening to these tracks for little over a year and a half now. How, exactly, you ask? Live bootlegs, of course, which have been in circulation and distribution on a myriad of different forums, blogs, and video channels. Mind you, I think it's safe to say that the bootlegs are not an adequate preparation for the new album, MPP. AC has not only exceeded my expectations this time around, but surprised the hell out of me and leaves an unanswered question in my head . . . how is this stuff created?

This is a short excerpt from "The Time of the Assassins - a study of Rimbaud" by Henry Miller which was sent to me today from Rachna. Thanks, Rachna.
"Art is something which stirs men's passions, which gives vision, lucidity, courage and faith. Has any artist in words of recent years stirred the world as did Hitler? Has any poem shocked the world as did the atomic bomb recently? Not since the coming of Christ have we seen such vistas unfolding, multiplying daily. What weapons has the poet compared to these? Or what dreams? Where now is his vaunted imagination?
Reality is here before our very eyes, stark naked, but where is the song to announce it? Is there a poet of even the fifth magnitude visible? I see none. I do not call poets those who make verses, rhymed or unrhymed. I call that man a poet who is capable of profoundly altering the world. If there be such a poet living in our midst, let him declare himself. Let his raise his voice! But it will have to be voice which can drown the roar of the bomb. He will have to use a language which melt's men's hearts, which makes the blood bubble...
If a single atom contains so much energy, what about man himself in whom there are universes of atoms? If it is energy he worships why does he not look at himself? If he can conceive, and demonstrate to his own satisfaction, the boundless energy imprisoned in an infinitesimal atom, what then of those Niagaras within him? And what of the earth's energy, to speak of but another infinitesimal conglomeration of matter? If we are looking for demons to harness, then there is such an infinitude of them that the thought is paralyzing...
Man was given second sight that he might see through and beyond the world of phantasmagoria. The only effort demanded of him is that he open the eyes of his soul, that he gaze into the heart of reality and not flounder about in the realm of illusion and delusion."

Greetings
Hi and hello to all who may be reading. Just started this thing up! One of my hopes is that imaginalRoots will act as an aid in facilitating communication with others, while simultaneously providing me with a stable base for my own creative processes. Immediate contact and communication is not necessary at this point, nor is it expected; however, it certainly is appreciated.
I love to be inspired and inspire - it's all around us. That basically means, well. . . send me links/videos/music/art of any kind that you enjoy. If you enjoy reading/listening/watching the material I present and imagine here, chances are, I'll dig what you have to say. Negative feedback and criticism is also appreciated. . . this sword is dual sided for sure.
Anyways, back to present.
Here is an initiative that seeks to provide children in "third world" (3/4 of the world) countries with small, durable laptops called XO's. The laptop and organization's overview is described as "a small machine with a big mission. The XO is a potent learning tool designed and built especially for children in developing countries, living in some of the most remote environments. It’s about the size of a small textbook. It has built-in wireless and a unique screen that is readable under direct sunlight for children who go to school outdoors. It’s extremely durable, brilliantly functional, energy-efficient, and fun"
It makes me wonder if this is actually helping? What exactly will they have access too? If implemented correctly, I'd like to think that this may spawn a new surge, perhaps an uprising of newly inspired minds, pushing information and spirit forward electronically and emotionally. If social networking tools, and our current software is installed on these machines, this initiative may have some traction.
Perhaps we should work on starvation and halt the destruction of their natural habitats first.

We're constantly extending our external electronic stimuli; massaging and prying

What does a suit and tie offer starvation?

It's almost time
